The Great American Read Presentations

1. Post your video presentation reviewing your selected book from "The Great American Read" list.  State the title of your book and a title for your presentation to get the viewer's interest.

2. View and comment on three students' videos.  Your comments should be several sentences in length (a short paragraph) and should give specific feedback to the student.  It is essential to be respectful when commenting.

Example of an ineffective comment: Your presentation was pretty good, and you said some interesting things about the book.  However, you looked awkward and uncomfortable speaking, so you could improve on your presentation skills.

Example of an effective comment: I enjoyed viewing your presentation!  You gave clear reasons to support your claim, and the textual evidence you chose supported your reasons well.  Your slide design made the presentation easy to read and attention-getting because of your choice of font and images.

    1. I enjoyed watching your presentation. I loved all of the visualize elements you had which made it fun to watch. I agree with your opinion that it should be on the Great American Read list. I liked your counter claim and how you used it to your advantage rather then your disadvantage. Overall I enjoyed your project.

    2. I liked watching your presentation. It was easy to follow the visuals and the reasons. I agree with your thoughts about why the book should be on the Great American Read list completely. Overall, I think your presentation was easy to follow and fun to watch.

    3. Wow Emma! As a complete disgrace to humanity that's never read Harry Potter, I could still completely understand your presentation and enjoyed it all the same. I never knew Harry was abused a kid, and how that was such a prominent theme in the series, so thank you for pointing that out! Your speaking was concise and I could tell you were really passionate about the book. Also, THANK YOU for the captions. With the captions, I don't have to figure out how the pictures relate to the presentation. The only criticism I can think of is possibly putting the quotes up on the screen? Although I didn't have much trouble following them, it would still be easier if I could just read them on the screen. That's pretty much the only thing, and it isn't even that much of problem. Kudos to you, Emma. Great presentation.

    4. I watched your presentation and it was very interesting! I like how you included pictures from the movie so I could visualize the book in my mind as you were talking. You spoke very clearly and I can tell you were well prepared! Overall your presentation was great and I plan on reading the series too!

    1. From your presentation on Angles and Demons I have been able to discover something I didn't know existed. I have never heard of an ambigram before and that imminently got my attention. When you said that all the places in the book were real in Italy I got even more engaged. Though I have never read The DiVinchi Code, I have heard very good comments about about it and not heard of Demons and Angles before so including how people say it is not as good was valuable choice. I liked how you brought up the really deep plot and information the book includes because those kinds of books are one of my favorite kind; they leave a mark in your memory about how much you learned and enjoyed it. Conclusively I would say you did a very nice job describing the book and all of the right information to make someone interested in it.

    2. I really thought that your report was very interesting because I read the Di Vinchi Code. And something I found interesting was this fight with science and religion and I think this is an interesting topic that was not in the Di Vinchi Code.In my book they really only focused on religion but I think it would have been so cool to see some science in there too.One thing I also found interesting was how you pointed out how Dan Brown can make you believe anything and I feel the same way.I also think it's very cool that he fused real history and fact with a made up story and he also really made me believe in the secret society's he was talking about.

    3. I realy found your presentation gripping. It just felt like someone was doing it in person and I like that, I realy find the dive into the actual location realy interesting and how the book circles around. I also realy enjoy the power of the quotes and what they represent. I will seriously consider reading!

    4. You really did well, your speaking was way better then mine and no stuttering I wish I could speak as clear as that on camera. Since I watched this I would like to read this novel it seems very intriguing.

    5. Great job on your presentation! You did great speaking to the camera and you had great information. I really enjoyed the visual part of your presentation, especially the science vs. religion slide. The only thing I would change is shorter quotes, but since I haven't read the book I'm not sure if you could have done that. Overall, great job.

    6. I liked your theme and how you related it to the book. That theme also related to my book the da vinci code. I also agree with the statement that Dan Brown can make you feel however he wants. Overall good presentation but could have said um less.

    7. Your presentation was one of the better ones I have seen. You did a great job with the animations, the wording, and the evidence. I really enjoy books with an issue involved and this has one had the science vs. and religion debate in it. Or, as you put it, the combination of the two. You also portrayed the book as a book for everyone, something a true Great American Read should have. Nice job.

    1. I really enjoyed hearing about The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-time. I would have never picked up this book at first glance but after listening to this I was interested in reading it. I thought it was really smart to have included language as a counter for why people may not vote for the book. I liked how you used pictures from the play to explain details in the book. The images you used gave me something interesting to look at while you spoke. Your presentation was overall very intriguing and you had a really good vocabulary that I appreciated hearing.

    2. I enjoyed the summary and how you used your words. I also wish I spoke more like how you did with limited stuttering. I also loved how you stated how it belongs on this list.

    3. You did a really great job with this presentation. I think that you did a good job explaining your claim of why it belonged on the great american read list. One thing that made me want to read this book was when you started to talk about the conflict within the family and how the main character wasn't really able to understand what was happening. You also used word choices that I would have never thought about which added a lot to your presentation, and I really enjoyed to listen it to.

    1. Your presentation on And Then There Were None was well done and amusing. I have seen the movie based on Agatha Christie's book Murder on the Orient Express and I really loved the compelling story in it which you described was apparent in this book as well. I find that books can be confusing at times so I like that you included the idea of using a character chart to understand the story more. In my opinion you had a good rebuttal, personally I tend to read those longer book that have high lexile levels but to point out that it was low helped to prove you case well. Overall I enjoyed listening to your presentation and it has persuaded me to read that book when the occasion arrives.

    2. I enjoyed watching your presentation about the book, And Then There Were None. One thing that I really enjoyed about your presentation was how you pointed out the authors attention to detail, and the first quote about the panther was perfect for explaining why you thought she paid attention to detail. Your summary of the book got me interested in the book and all of your reasoning for why it should be on the great american read list really got me wanting to read this book.

    3. I really liked your presentation, and I appreciate the facts you put in there. I wanted to read And Then There Were None, and after watching your presentation, now I want to read it even more. It was interesting to hear about how Agatha Christie is only outsold by extremely famous and popular writings like the Bible, and your summary for the book was intriguing. You did a splendid job presenting your rebuttal to your counter claim. You brought up a good point about how it may be hard keeping track of lots of characters at once, I know it's sometimes confusing for me, and your advice helped a lot! You did a great job persuading people to vote for this book.

Your presentation “ And Then There Were None” was very informative and persuasive. I thought your presentation was very clean and organized and I could really understand what you were talking about instead of having too much information where cluttered your slides. Your voice was very clear and I could understand why you enjoyed this book a lot. The pictures you had on your slides was a nice touch and it really added good detail to your slides. I also saw that you didn't really say the word “um” that much and I really look for that in presentations because it shows that you're really prepared when you don't use that word. Overall your presentation was very good.

    5. I read the same book and I chose it for similar reasons, the page count was appealing because of fall sports and the plot seemed interesting. I also agree that the book should be on the list and that it had a remarkably clever plot. I also agreed with the attention to detail, which ties in with the figurative language and literary elements that I mentioned in my presentation. I also think you explained the evidence well and how it related to your claim. Overall, I think that your presentation was detailed and I agree with your points.

    1. Your presentation on Frankenstein was very interesting and had lots of textual evidence and detail backing up why it was such a good book that I was very intrigued and will definitely read this book. I also enjoyed the way you addressed the audience and how your talking was very fluent and did not have many pauses, and the pictures also helped show imagery to the book and representations of the book as you showed.

    2. I really love the book you chose I love Frankenstein's Monster and I now and have wanted to read this book. I didn't know that there was a Robert Walton in the story when watching the movie that is an awesome fact. I also like that you joked a bit in this by saying like "that's a lot of usage of the word life." or something like that.

    3. I really like the theme that you said was a part of Frankenstein: science without morals. This is still a very relevant question to ask and I agree that it is a good theme to have when dealing with the tech we have today. I also like how you said that given the time period, this was a huge book to not just tell a story but give a wild example of how relentlessly pushing towards innovation isn't always good. I also liked your rebuttal to the counter argument - the impact it has made shows its still a part of literature today. Overall, you seemed very comfortable speaking and had a great array of pictures for your slides.

Your presentation “Frankenstein” was very persuasive and I could really understand what you were talking about. I also really understood your presentation more when you used your cursor to emphasize what you were trying to get through to the listener. You have good presentation skills and I thought that images you used were very well thought of and contributed well to your presentation. I also liked how you talked a lot more than what you had written and your explanation that needs quote or bullet point was very clear and I could really see myself reading this book. Overall your presentation is very clear and I understood it very well.

    2. Alex, I really liked your video presentation on the Davinci Code. I thought you explained the book very well and that really gave me a sight into what the book is about. From what I have heard, this book sounds like a great read and a fun read. However, I feel like this book is very over the top, like you said, so maybe this book is an aquired genre for most people. Overall, I thought you did a very great job on the presentation!

    1. Good report. I agree that the book could relate to older generations possibly better than teens because of the relevance. Something to do better next time is not put as much words on the slides just say them so you can put more pictures. This way you can convey your message in a way that is easier to actually see.

    1. I enjoyed watching your presentation and I liked your counter claim. on how you said there are many other books you can read. I also agree that escape from Mr.lemonchello's library should be on the list. I like the point you made when you said a book dose not need 5 swear words on a page. Over all I enjoyed your presentation.

    2. I really enjoyed listening to this video because I read the same book and I had a different claim. I can definitely see where you are coming from with the diagrams and profane language, but I think that they really show the way a kid with autism’s mind works. The book is Christopher writing down his thoughts and experiences and that is the way he thinks with diagrams and maps in his head. I agree that the language used is a little much sometimes, but I think it shows the conflict with the family, and that they are not perfect just like most families. I would also really like to see the play. Overall I really liked your presentation and I completely agree with your theme.

    3. Your presentation was very interesting to watch! You argued that your book should not be on the Great American Read list which not many people said. You have very good presentation skills! Throughout the presentation, you remained eye contact and used fluctuation and enthusiasm in you voice. You did not sound overly rehearsed which made the presentation more enjoyable. In your counterclaim, you stated that Escape From Mr. Lemoncello’s Library should be on the Great American Read List instead. I have read this book three times, and I thoroughly enjoyed it each time, so I agree that this book is very deserving of a spot on the Great American Read List. Though I did not read the book you chose for the project, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, I think that your reasons to support your claim are good. Pictures can make a book better, but too many can take away from the story. Some people like these added features, so I think that it is interesting that it is one of the reasons that you don’t think the book is deserving of its place on the list. All in all, your presentation was very engaging, and I am glad I chose to watch it.

    4. You did a nice job presenting your slides. When you were talking about the summary, I got bored. This book, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, does not seem very interesting at all. I was not sure what the "Added Features" were until you explained them. When you did explain them, I agree that trying to read a book with those features would be distracting and overall annoying. When you explained your Argument Part 3, your quote from New York Times said that there was not a firm sense of closure at the end of the book between two characters. I do not like books like this. As a reader, I like to know everything that had happened in a book, especially if it is mystery. I liked how in your counterclaim you used another example of a more well written book with the same topic as the one you read.

    5. Your presentation was very well done. All of your slides were very organized and easy to follow. Also, you spoke very clearly throughout the entire presentation and had good eye contact. I liked how you included another book, wonder, in your counter to show that there are better books that have a main character with a disability. I agree Escape from Mr. Lemoncellos Library would be a good choice since it is a series. I also agree that so much profanity could take away from the story and make it not as enjoyable. I think the theme you used suits this book because after I read the summary on the Great American Read site, it showed me that the main character tried to solve the mystery. Overall, I thought your presentation was very good.

    6. Overall, your presentation was really good! I greatly enjoyed how you organized all your slides and how you presented the information. I felt like you put the perfect amount of writing on your slides so that it was not too overwhelming to watch. Also, I thought that your argument was doe very well. You were very persuasive with your reasoning as to why it should not be on the list. I thought your slide about the pictures included in the book was super persuading. Lastly, I really liked how you compared this book to others such as To Kill a Mockingbird. I really liked how you compared the theme in your book to the theme of To Kill a Mockingbird. In conclusion, I really enjoyed your presentation and thought you did a great job!

This is not a book I would typically reach for, but the way you talked about it made it seem really interesting. Your rebuttal made complete sense and it was somewhat reassuring that the book was understandable. 2. I thought that your presentation was really good. I could understand everything you were saying, and your sentences were fluent. I thought it was interesting that you chose the book because you could relate to it since you’re a runner, and I liked how throughout your presentation you were able to connect to it because you’re an athlete as well. I also thought your summary of the book was really good, since you gave the viewer an idea of what the book was about without giving away any huge plot points. I liked your choice in quotes, however for the next self-select project, I would suggest putting the quotes on the presentation. I think that would work better because that way the viewer can read them instead of you reading them, and all you have to do is explain how the quotes tie into your book and your reasonings. Your counterclaim was good because I could understand why people might think that the book is too mature for younger reads, but I also completely agree with you that if the child has good parental guidance while reading the book, than it being too mature should not be an issue. I overall thought your presentation was really good.

    3. I really liked your presentation, like how you kept it short and simple but you made it easy to figure out what you were getting across. I understand why you don't think The book should be on the great american read list because of all the description that were put into the book. However, some people might argue that all those description are what put the book on the great american read list because those description are what allowed the reader to vision the surroundings or what was happening and maybe what the weather was like.

It covered what the whole book was about and would make anyone interested in the book. This book was not predictable at all, so I agree with you. I totally guessed the murder wrong when reading this book. I liked how you explained that the author included a red herring. I did not know the concept of a red herring feature in a book until you explained it. I agree that there were definitely many misleading clues or red herrings. I also agree that the book was sinister, but that is what made this book so good. You had a nice presentation.

With all of that being said, Your presentation has inspired me to read the book or find a possible movie. You also avoided filler words (um, so, ect.) making your presentation sound more professional. The reasons you used to support your claim were very strong. Since I read the same book, I know there was a lot of evidence in the story to support your reasons, but I think you chose some of the best quotes because the viewer can easily see how the reason and the quotes correspond. The images that you used really enhanced the presentation. I like how the Counterclaim slide was filled with pictures from different parts of the story. You did not fill up the slides with text which made it more visually appealing. Overall, you did an excellent job on the presentation!

  18. Why Along Came a Spider should be on the Great American Read List.

NOTE: I know that there's no quotes for my first piece of evidence. Once you get to that point in the presentation you'll know why..

ANOTHER NOTE: I forgot to put this in the presentation, but this is the first book of the Alex Cross series.

    1. I enjoyed the presentation. The very cut to chase tone is very good for the book. I also realy enjoyed the book when I read it and I also like the way you described the plot of the story. I realy enjoyed the book when I read it.

    2. Your presentation was very good! Your pacing was perfect and your tone was very clear. You explained every piece of evidence individually and clearly. You had a very nice rebuttal to the counterargument that you provided, using evidence that we could relate to. Also, you had a elaborate and interesting conclusion, a great way to end your presentation. One suggestion is that you could be a little bit more creative with your font. Overall though, you did a very nice job.

    3. I liked how you kept the pace of the presentation the same and had a very clear voice. How you integrated "To Kill a Mockingbird" was very helpful to the watcher. I like how your evidence slides were arranged with one quote from the book one each side and one in the middle from an outside source. Something you could have done better is more pictures. On some slides you only have one picture and there is space for more. Overall good presentation.

    4. I read this book also, and I think that your review of it was very good because it had very good reasons. I agree with you that it is a very well thought out future and that there is a lot of changes in character. I also enjoyed that parts of the setting were tied into the story to show how truly dystopian it was. The only thing that i have in criticism, is that several essential parts of the story were left out of the summary, but it was an amazing presentation regardless.

    5. I enjoyed listening to your presentation! I have read this book too, and I've seen the movie, and I agree with a lot of the points you brought up. I especially liked how you compared the book to "To Kill a Mockingbird" for your counterclaim. Great presentation!

    6. I saw Ready Player One in theaters when it came out and thought it was an overall 'decent' movie with a complex and well thought out plot. However, based on your presentation it makes me wonder how different the book is from the movie. You did a really nice job of explaining the book and the significance and reasons it should be on the list. I hope I have the chance to read it sometime. Great presentation!

    1. This was a very good presentation. I liked how you never really said 'um' and you had a clear idea of what you were going to say. You were able to give good reasons to read the book without giving the plot away. You used a very good vocabulary like "abrasive". The presentation was really good.

    2. Your presentation was very well done. You did a great job explaining all your evidence, the summary, ect. You had a great, clear speaking voice and you rarely had to backtrack and repeat what you said before. You also did a great job not repeating yourself, even when you had to restate places and specific parts of the book. The only thing I suggest you could have done better is talk slightly faster. Overall, your presentation was great and I might try reading the ¨Da Vinci Code¨ myself!

    3. I think you did a great job on your presentation. You managed to speak all of your points without revealing to much plot, something that can be difficult with a complicated plot like your book's. I also felt like you conveyed the imagery well with the book, with a combination of pictures and quotes. To me, the theme that you said at the end didn't really tie into the the rest of the book. Overall, I thought it was a well organized presentation with great pictures.

    4. I really enjoyed this presentation. I think the plot was very interesting, and you didn't give to much away. I can understand why the book was controversial, but your rebuttal was great. 1. I really enjoyed your presentation and liked the quotes that you picked. I also enjoyed the book and never knew you were so interested in space. Of what you were saying the movie and book seemed to be pretty similar. I agree with you on the foul language, for if your going to read this long of a book you are most likely mature. The two reasons you choose very much related to the way of the book. Overall I thought you project was great.

    2. Codie, I enjoyed your presentations for many reasons. One, I liked the reasons you liked the book. I feel some people do not understand the greater meaning of novels but in this case, you clearly did. Another reason I liked your presentation is your rebuttal. I thought it made sense to use vulgar language to explain someone's feelings without having to step into their shoes. One thing I think you could have worked on is explaining the theme little better. I really didn't get a clear vision of the theme at all. However, that only degrades your presentation a little considering your awesome effort everywhere else! Now that all of tbhat is out of the way, I Don't particularly enjoy space novels, but I can see why you do and I think you did a great job with it.

I like your reasoning for first and third person perspectives because it shows you what multiple people are doing and what the main character is thinking. Even though people think it shouldn’t be on the list for lack of emotion and Watney’s humor, I think the humor would add a relief and break from all of the suspense and tension in the novel. Overall you did a great job and I really like your presentation.

Your presentation was very persuasive and made me want to read this book. The theme really seemed to suit the book and it was explained with very strong reasons. 2. I liked that you chose the book because it was requested to you by your family, since I feel like some people choose random books. During the summary, I liked how you explained how there were creepy things happening around the house when they moved there, and how things about the death of Rebecca were coming up. I think the way you explained it was very good because you didn’t give away any plot points to the story. However, I think that next time you should explain the summary a little bit more. While explaining your quotes, I liked how you focused on the opening line of the book and explained how it is really famous. I also liked how you pictured yourself as the main character, which I think is really unique since the reader doesn’t know who the main character is. I really liked how you explained that the reason there were gender roles was because that was how it was during the period of time that it took place. Some people may get offended by that, so I thought it was good that you addressed it and explained how that was the way they lived their lives in the past. I thought your presentation was really good and you spoke very fluently.

    3. This was my second book choice to read for this project, so listening to your summary made me want to read this book even more. I like the reasons for your claim. I like to read older books, sometimes classics, so that was a good point. Your counterclaim made lot of sense. The "normal" back then is different from the "normal" now, so people may not like the older stereotypical roles for males and females, but like you said, it was written long ago. People should defiantly take that into consideration when voting for Rebecca on the Great American Read. Your conclusion gave just enough information to the listener to make them even more interested in the book. Like you said, this is one of your favorite books of all time. I am excited to read this book soon, so thank you for giving a great presentation that pushed me to purchase Rebecca.

    2. I feel like most people choose a book because that is the kind of book they normally read, so I really liked that you chose the book because you hadn’t read a mystery book in a while. While you were explaining the summary of the book, I like you how connected Amy’s treasure hunt to their marriage, and how they were searching for a better one. I also liked that you explained the characters life, that way the viewer can understand the book better. However, I think you spent a bit too much time explaining Amy’s treasure hunt, and could have summarized what you said. Besides that, it was really good. I also liked that you chose quotes that were at the end of the chapters because it shows suspense, and I could tell that the reader was kept on the edge of their seat, just like you said. I thought it was good that not only did you explain how the quotes tied into the story, but you explained how you felt through the story. You have two whole minutes you can stretch your presentation, so it's perfectly fine if you want to take that time to enunciate some of your words. Otherwise, 10/10 presentation!

    2. I really enjoyed your presentation and am very interested to read And Then There Are None. I liked how you referred to main points of the story and chose quotes that really conveyed the point you wanted to get across. You clearly showed interest in the book! I liked how you also said that although it is very old, it has relevance to today like all of Christie's other books. The point that stuck with me was how her books were the 3rd most printed after bibles and Shakespeare. The only two criticisms that I have are that you were speaking to fast and too much time was spent on quotes, but other than that, I liked it.

    3. I really liked your presentation Andrew. You had great speaking skills without long pauses. You did seem to repeat your points a few times, but they were great points that must have been hard to make without spoiling the plot. Also I liked that you were able to prevent your webcam from covering the pictures in most of the presentation as that was an annoyance that I had with a few other presentations. Your quotes were really good and they supported your argument very well.

    2. I thought your presentation was very interesting and compelling! You spoke very clearly and thoroughly throughout the whole presentation, and you maintained eye contact throughout the presentation. I loved how on your summary slide you did not use many words, but instead explained the major plot points through your speaking. I thought your quotes were precise in explaining your reasonings. All in all, I thought your presentation was very good and helped me understand your claim.

I myself having read the book never found there relationship sexual, more like brotherhood. I also like the way the theme is described and I enjoyed both the book and presentation very much.

You had a very nice presentation. I liked the visuals used and I found it interesting that your reason against actually had impacts on groups of people. The controversy of the book shows how society has changed since earlier times in human society. It kind of reminds me of the relationship between Achilles and Patroclus, as both relationships have varied views on the nature of their relationship was. Overall, you made a great presentation.

    1. Your presentation was very unique (in a good way) and captivating. You had a nice background to go with your book presentation. Your visuals had variety and were plentiful. You spoke clearly and fluently all throughout your presentation. Each piece of evidence was explained and was made relatable. One little suggestion that I would make is the webcam, as it kind of looks like you are being pushed against the wall. Other than that, your presentation was very well done.

    2. I really enjoyed watching your presentation. I was very intrigued by your novel and after hearing all the reasons behind this book being a good book I was sure to put this book on my next read list. Your speaking skills were very good and did not stop often to think about what you were saying. Over all, this was a very good presentation.

    3. Nice presentation Nate! Fluid presentation, great quotes, and well use of pictures throughout. I especially loved your post about real-world impact. It's not every day you see a book that has a material impact on the world, and so the fact that you took this opportunity to point one out to us, I really appreciate it! I'll make sure to bring a towel to school come May. I'm pretty sure that's like, the last day of school.
For criticism, the only thing I saw was your counterclaim. I can see how certain countries might not accept a book from a different place, like, the incredibly rigid government of China, but I don't think it's as much of a problem in the US and UK as it is in more strict places. Your presentation is still one that I'll remember, though! Don't let me forget about that towel.

I haven't read it, but your presentation made it seem like an interesting and comical journey for the reader and the characters. I like your use of imagery as well!

    5. I am very interested to read this book after watching your presentation. I liked how you connected the book to things that you have heard before reading and how you connected it to a real world celebration. I think that it is a book that many quote, but not many read. I also thought that the theme of things not being what they seem is very interesting. The only thing that I have as criticism, is that you did not seem very comfortable in front of the camera. All in all, I am very interested in reading the book after this presentation.

    1. Great presentation overall. What I liked most about it was your support for your quotes because for one of the quotes you talked about tone which is a literary element and I feel as though that was an excellent aspect to include in your presentation. I also enjoyed the overall theme and placement of words in your presentation. Your presentation was visually appealing although your full face was not showing which is fine although eye contact could be worked on just a little bit but other than that your presentation was exceptional. You clearly put in an exceeding amount of effort and that effort contributed to influencing me to believe your book does deserve to be on the Great American Read List.

I liked you reasons because they were different from others and they made the book more personal, which as you explained was, and that's what makes a good book.

I also love reading books that are full of mystery and plot twists, so your argument greatly appealed to me as a reader. Extra Quotes:
For Irrelevant Plot Points: Even though the author uses last words as a main theme in his book he never uses them in the climax of the book - the passing of one of Pudge's friends. He notes near the end of the book that "I know so many last words, but I will never know hers," (Green 142).
Underdeveloped/ Unnecessary Characters: Takumi is a character who is summed up with this plot line: "Takumi, who is supposed to be one of the Big Four around whom this story revolves, is completely characterized by his unrealistic rap improvs and basically disappears from the story until required by the plot to re-emerge with More Information." 1. You did a great job on your presentation. You claimed that your book should not be only the list, only 4 other people out of 62 people said that their book should not be on the list, so you were definitely in the minority. However, you did a very great job supporting your claim, giving many reasons. Your reasons were well explained with lots of evidence, and the evidence was well explained. You had a very strong and clear voice; you presented the presentation like you had practiced presenting the presentation before. Also, you made use of the font, bolding areas that were important. One flaw that I saw was that your webcam was choppy, but this is probably Screencastify's fault rather than yours. Your presentation was exceptional, and it would be hard to find areas to improve in your presentation.

Your self select presentation was great. You had some great visuals on your slides and some good points as to why the book should not be on the list. I like that when you talked about the unnecessary characters, you also dived into how the could have been used to make the book even better, like how the author could have used the tension between Takumi and Pudge to make a much more interesting narrative. Your presentation was great overall.

    4. Great presentation Devon. You had great reasons to support your idea that the book should not be on the list. I glad that I saw this one because I thought it was interesting to watch a presentation about a book that should not be on the list. The quote's you used were really good too. I was a little bit confused when you said that Lara was Pudge's first girlfriend but Alaska was his first love, however your point still made sense. I also really liked the themes that you had in the end.

    1. Your presentation on “And Then There Were None” was very convincing and explained the book very well. You used strong evidence and reasons to support your claim, and it was very easy to follow. Your visuals helped illustrate what you were talking about and really made your presentation flow. I also liked how you used bullet points on the slides because it summarized the slide and made it easy to understand. I did not think I wanted to read this book before, but now that I have heard your presentation, I think I will. It was so persuasive and had such strong reasoning that it has convinced me to read this book.

The pictures you used on you slides went really well with all of your slides and made the presentation better. You also seemed really enthusiastic about the book and made me want to read it. 1. I also read “Flowers in the Attic” and I completely agree with your claim and both of your reasons. I think that the quotes you used support each reason very well and I think that your summary was very detailed and displayed the book nicely. I also agree with your counterclaim. I liked the pictures that you used in your presentation and the font and size of your text. I thought both of these made your presentation look very organized and made it very easy to read. Your speaking skills throughout were very well and you had minimal errors while recording. I also believe that your theme suits “Flowers in the Attic” very well because the mother and grandmother put the children in unimaginable and harsh conditions so they could inherit money. Overall, I think that your presentation was very good and presented very well.

    2. Your presentation “Flowers in the Attic” was very well written. My favorite part of the whole presentation was the image of the used and I really liked how there were many of them too make the presentation easier to read. one thing I would say is, I would include more bullet points for your summary to make it clear to the reader, the pictures were great but maybe a little bit of writing would make your presentation even better. You have very good presentation skills and it really showed while listening to your presentation. Also, sometimes I think fonts can be distracting the reader and I have to say this presentation was easy to read and I think the font was a perfect choice for your sides. I also have issues with books not keeping you hooked while reading it, but listen to your summary I would definitely consider reading this book because it keeps you hooked as you said.
